From Salento, the first sunglasses made from prickly pear and olive trees

It has Salento blood and a 100% green soul the new line of sunglasses made from prickly pear fiber and olive wood. For now there are a hundred or so limited-edition pieces, but all handmade and created entirely in Italy.
This is the first Ferilllieyewear eyewear collection, that is, what came out of the fervent mind of young Cristiano Ferilli, a native of Giuliano di Lecce, a graduate in orthoptics and ophthalmic care from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome and a great fan of eyewear.
Cristiano soon combined his passion for lenses with his love of nature over the years by coming across an innovative eco-sustainable material born in the heart of Puglia, Sikalindi® (prickly pear in the Grika language). It is a material-winner of the Oscar Green award in 2013-that is made by dehydrating the blades of the prickly pear cactus, a plant widespread in Apulian lands.
From this dehydration process, which involves no pollutants and takes place in total respect of the plant's life cycle, comes a unique material where the fiber's natural textures are brought back to life in eyewear, "making it not only an accessory with an exclusive visual impact because it has never before been used to make eyewear, but also an object with a sophisticated and surprisingly natural design."
